Your Local Cesspool & Septic Crew on the Kona Side.

We’re a full-service cesspool and septic company serving West Hawaii, from Kailua-Kona and the coffee belt down to Ocean View and north through Waikoloa and Puako to Waimea. A routine pump, a cesspool that has stopped taking water, a conversion you want to plan before the state deadline, an inspection before a sale closes, a failed pump, or a backup tonight: we handle the whole system, and we come to your property to do it.

Outside the sewered core of town, almost every home on this side of the island runs on its own system: a cesspool dug into the lava, a septic tank with a seepage pit, or an aerobic unit on a tight lot. Kona wastewater has its own challenges: little or no soil over the rock, lids at odd depths with no records, catchment homes that hide a failing pit, and rentals that go from empty to a full house in a day. Tell us where the system is and what it’s doing, and we’ll give you a straight answer, a real price, and a crew that knows how water moves through lava.

What We Do

From a routine pump to a full cesspool conversion, here’s what we handle for West Hawaii homeowners.

Cesspool & Septic Services

We are a full-service cesspool and septic company covering the Kona side of the Big Island, from the condos along Alii Drive and the subdivisions above Kailua-Kona, up through the coffee belt to Kealakekua and Captain Cook, south to Ocean View, and north through Waikoloa Village and Puako to Waimea. Outside the sewered core of town, almost every home here runs on its own system: a cesspool dug into the lava, a septic tank with a leach field or seepage pit, or an aerobic unit on a tight lot. We service all three. Routine pumping, a cesspool that has stopped taking water, converting an old cesspool to a septic system before the state deadline, an inspection before a sale closes, a cracked lid or failed pump, or a backup on a Saturday night. You call, you tell us roughly where the system is and what it is doing, and we give you a straight answer and a real price. No upsell, no scare talk, just a crew that knows how wastewater behaves in lava rock.

Cesspool Pumping

Cesspool pumping is the most common call we get on the Kona side. A cesspool is a pit in the lava that takes everything from the house and lets the liquid seep out through its walls and floor. Over the years the solids build up, grease and soap coat the rock, and the walls seal, so the pit takes water more and more slowly until it backs up. Pumping removes the solids and the standing liquid so the pit can drain again. We pump residential cesspools across West Hawaii: we find and expose the lid, pump the pit down, break up and remove the packed solids where we can, and look at how the walls are taking water while it is empty. Then we tell you straight whether this is a cesspool with years left or one that is sealing up and needs a conversion plan. Most homes are done in one visit.

Septic Tank Pumping

Pumping is the single most important thing you can do for a septic system, and it is what we do most. Solids settle to the bottom of the tank and scum floats to the top; pumping removes both before they wash out into the leach field or seepage pit and clog the rock. We pump residential septic tanks everywhere on the Kona side, from converted homes in Kailua-Kona and Kalaoa to newer builds in Waikoloa Village and farm houses up the coffee belt. We locate and open the lid, pump the tank down completely, check the baffles and the tank walls while it is open, and tell you what we see. Most homes need pumping every three to five years, but vacation rentals, big households, and small tanks need it sooner, and we will set a schedule that matches how your house is actually used.

Cesspool to Septic Conversion

Converting a cesspool means taking the pit out of service and putting in a real treatment system: a septic tank with a leach field or seepage pit, or an aerobic treatment unit where the lot is small or the rock is tight. The state has stopped permitting new cesspools and set a deadline for existing ones to be converted or closed, so every cesspool on the Kona side is going to need this work eventually, and a failing one needs it now. We handle cesspool-to-septic conversions across West Hawaii from the first site visit to the last inspection: we evaluate the lot and the rock, work out which system type fits, handle the state wastewater permit, excavate in lava, set the tank and field, connect the house, and pump and properly close the old cesspool. We quote the whole job up front, including the rock work, so the number you plan around is the number you pay.

Septic Inspections

A wastewater inspection tells you the true condition of a cesspool or septic system before it becomes your problem, which is exactly why they matter when a Kona home changes hands. A lot of buyers here are from the mainland or another island, have never owned a cesspool, and are closing on a property they have seen twice. We inspect residential cesspools, septic tanks, and aerobic units across West Hawaii for buyers, sellers, agents, and owners who just want to know where they stand. We locate and open the system, pump it if needed to see the bottom, measure sludge and scum, check lids, baffles, risers, and any pump and alarm, run water to see how it handles a real load, and look at the leach field or pit for signs of failure. You get a plain-language written summary: what kind of system it is, what shape it is in, whether a cesspool is facing the conversion deadline, and what work it needs.

Septic System & Drain Field Repair

A septic system is more than a tank. There are inlet and outlet baffles, a lid and risers, the line from the house, a distribution box, the leach field or seepage pit where the water finally soaks into the rock, and on many Kona lots a pump, an aerator, or float switches with an alarm. Any of those can fail, and when they do you get backups, odors, wet ground, or a system that quietly stops treating. We diagnose and repair septic systems and drain fields across West Hawaii. We find the actual problem before we dig: we check the line, open the tank, test the pump and floats, and look at how the field is taking water. Then we replace cracked lids and failed baffles, repair or replace broken and root-filled lines, rebuild distribution boxes, replace pumps and aerators, and repair or rebuild leach fields and seepage pits in lava. A lot of "the field is dead" calls turn out to be a fixable upstream problem. We tell you which one you have.

Emergency

Emergency Cesspool & Septic Backup Service

A cesspool or septic backup is not a next-week problem. It is sewage coming into your home or surfacing in your yard, and it gets worse and more expensive the longer it sits. If your toilets and drains have stopped working, sewage is backing up into showers or floor drains, you smell it inside, there is liquid surfacing over the pit or field, or an alarm is going off, that is an emergency and we treat it like one. We provide fast emergency cesspool and septic service across West Hawaii, from Kailua-Kona and the coffee belt to Waikoloa and Waimea. We come out, pump the system down so the house drains again, find why it stopped, a full pit, a sealed cesspool, a clogged line, a failed pump, or a field that has given out, and get you running. Then we give you the honest picture of what it will take to keep it that way, which on a failing cesspool may mean planning a conversion rather than paying for the same emergency twice.

Backing Up, or a Cesspool That Won’t Drain? Don’t Wait.

A cesspool or septic problem usually gets worse, and more expensive, the longer it is left alone. A few signs mean you should cut back on water and call today.

Backups mean stop using water

Sewage backing up into showers, drains, or toilets means the system has nowhere to put the water. Every flush and load of laundry makes it worse. We pump it down, find the cause, and get your house draining again.

A cesspool that refills fast is sealing

A pit that backs up again days or weeks after a pump has walls that are coating over in the rock. Pumping buys time, not years. We tell you honestly whether it has life left or whether it is time to plan the conversion instead of paying for the same emergency twice.

An alarm can’t be ignored

On an aerobic unit or a pumped system, the alarm means the tank is filling faster than the pump is emptying it, or the aerator has stopped. Cut back on water and call before it turns into a backup.

How It Works

Three steps, no runaround.

1. Call or request a quote

Call (808) 470-5637 or send the quote form. Tell us where the property is and what’s going on and we’ll give you a straight price and a real time.

2. Tell us about your system

Let us know whether it is a cesspool, a septic tank, or an aerobic unit if you know, roughly where the lid is, when it was last pumped, and the symptom: a routine pump, a backup, a slow pit, an alarm, or an inspection. That’s usually enough for an honest quote.

3. We come to your property

We locate and open the system, do the work on-site, most jobs in one visit, and show you what we find before recommending anything. No upsells, no surprises.

Questions We Hear a Lot

Do I have a cesspool or a septic tank?
If the home was built before the state stopped permitting new cesspools and nobody has converted it, it is probably a cesspool: one pit, usually under a concrete lid, with no second tank or leach field. A septic system has a sealed tank plus a leach field or seepage pit. We can tell you for sure on the first visit, and the answer matters for how often it needs pumping and for the state conversion deadline.
How often should my system be pumped?
A septic tank every three to five years for most households, sooner for a small tank, a big family, or a vacation rental. A cesspool has no fixed interval; it needs pumping when solids build up or it starts taking water slowly. If you cannot remember the last pump, it is probably due. Call and we will set a schedule that fits your system.
What work do you do?
Cesspool pumping, septic tank pumping, cesspool-to-septic conversion, inspections for home sales, repairs to lids, baffles, lines, pumps, and leach fields, and emergency backups. One local crew covers the whole system from Ocean View to Waimea.
How do I get a quote?
Call us with roughly where the lid is and what is going on: a routine pump, a backup, a slow cesspool, an alarm, a conversion you want to plan, or an inspection for a sale. That is usually enough for a straight price over the phone. You can also send details through the quote form.
Can you come the same day?
Same-day service is often possible on the Kona side, especially for a backup or an overflow. Ask when you call and we will give you a real time, not a runaround.
What areas do you cover?
Kailua-Kona, Kalaoa, Holualoa, Keauhou, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Captain Cook, Honaunau, Ocean View, Waikoloa Village, Puako, Kawaihae, and Waimea. If you are on the Kona side and not sure we reach you, call and ask; we likely do.
